Whether you're thrill-seekers or nature lovers, this heart-pounding, yet awe-inspiring journey beneath the waves will bring you closer to the majestic predators of the ocean, while creating memories that will last a lifetime. Discover the beauty of the ocean, the rush of a shark dive, and the magic of spending this special day in the wild together.

Aliwal Shoal was named after the near-sinking in 1849 of the three-masted vessel Aliwal, captained by James Anderson. There are two wrecks near the reef that are popular recreational dive sites. The Norwegian bulk carrier MV Produce that sank in 1974, and the SS Nebo that sank in 1884.

Umkomaas is a beautiful sea side town and only a twenty minute boat ride from the Aliwal Shoal. The shoal is a volcanic reef approximately 5km in length, and runs in a North/South direction.

WHAT CAN YOU EXSPECT

There is a huge array of fish species Rays, Turtles, Mantas and Sharks. Ragged tooth sharks are the most common shark species. Dolphins and Whales are also frequent visitors at Aliwal shoal.
