Drift Diver

The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the best and coolest magic carpet ride you’ll ever experience. Here we show you how to enjoy rivers ocean and even sea currents by “going with the flow”, staying with your dive partner, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are eligible to take the Altitude Diver course.

Course Outline

During your PADI Drift Diver course you learn about:

• Planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of drift diving
• Planning entries and exits in drift currents
• An introduction to drift diving equipment - floats, lines, reels
• Buoyancy-control, navigation and communication for drift diving
• Site selection and overview of aquatic currents - causes and effects
• Techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group

By completing this course you will also be one step closer to achieving the covenant title of Master Scuba Diver and joining the elite group of divers.

Equipment

Beyond using standard scuba equipment, you may need gloves and hoods for added protection. Your Phoenix Instructor may suggest additional equipment depending on the dive site features and visibility.

As soon as you sign up (added the course to your cart and payment cleared) with Phoenix Divers to do your PADI Drift Diver Course, you will receive an email with the learning information you need. 

Your Phoenix Divers Instructor will contact you about scheduling time for practical training.
